These binoculars seem pretty similar to my old Nikon 10x42's that quit focusing after I left them out in the sun a couple of months ago. I've been outside some recently when its pretty cold, no problems. The Nikon description said the Nikons were waterproof, these don't say. But visually they seem to be about the same at 1/3 the price. **Q: Are these fairly lightweight? I’m looking for a pair to take traveling via airplane etc and don’t want to be weighed down** A: Shipping weight (including box) is 2 pounds.
