They made cutting-in and the more fiddly intricate areas to paint a lot easier to paint with the angled tips, helped give a more precise line. I've used them several times now and the flat, angled tips are not as defined as they first were (bristles starting to stick out a bit and generally becoming a bit thicker) so I'll likely have to buy replacements soon.
