It keeps the vermin out. It can have water build up inside the cover. Last year I put some grommets in at the lower areas just for drainage. That worked well. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ just what we needed *by P***W on Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2012* this product was what we needed and accomplished our intent to store canoe by the lake on saw horses, keeping tree droppings, insects and critters out/off of canoe, and out of the sun. Only disappointment is that it does not repel water as stated in description, which is significant. But there are no other like products that I can locate that would repel water. Will probably look for a water repellent spray to accomplish that. The thing is huge. I could probably put two kayaks in it. I looked at the stitching and did not find it as heavy as the reviews but it seems well made. It will be perfect for storage and I got the kayak, paddle, life vest and all my other gear in it with no problem. Comes with a nice bag made of the same material for storage when you are not using it. After spraying it with water it did a nice job of repelling the water, not water proof but with the kayak upside down in the rack will sure help keep the elements off the kayak.Oct 2013Had this for a year and it is still great. I use small straps, spring loaded jaw type, that I got at HD to take up the excess material and it works great. I set it opening down and after all winter had only a very very small amount of water in it.
