GoPro: How To Use The GoPro HERO 9 Black

As someone who has arrived late to the "tech gadget" party, I decided to purchase the kindle version of this book in consideration for my Dad who has expressed interested in the GoPro series. I plan to set him up with the GoPro Hero 9 Black as a special gift for when he retires at the end of this year, as he has a formal background in film and photography. I look forward to follow along with my digital copy, which makes a great conversation piece as we can discuss his latest upcoming project (IE his bucket list of video and photography ventures). I will definitely be buying a hardcopy as I feel that this book is easy to discern as it is organized in a step by step breakdown of how to use and the listed features. The layout and content is a breeze to navigate, and I am sure my Dad will have no trouble becoming an expert after giving this book a read.

Instead of thoroughly covering the basics of owning a new GoPro, Mr. Hetrick glosses over most of them, and spends a lot of time on what I would consider advanced photo and video techniques. Most or even all of those techniques are useful, but they are out of place in "How To Use The GoPro HERO 9," which to me implies more basic information. Amazon's bio info notes that "Jordan has traveled the world photographing professional athletes and writing stories for magazines." If his intended audience is aspiring professionals, as opposed to others who just want to know how to use a GoPro, that should be made clear.There are other serious shortcomings. Chief among them is the lack of an index.Next, I could not find anything -- anything at all! -- about the GoPro's telemetry gathering capabilities or the subsequent display of that data. The inclusion of a GPS in the newer GoPros was a major reason for my upgrading from a Hero4; I imagine many others are also interested in this aspect of GoPros.Another omission: there's a paragraph or two on removing the micro SD card from the camera to get the video onto a computer, but nothing about doing so by instead connecting the Hero9 via a USB cable. It's MUCH easier to do it this way, i.e., by NOT physically removing a card.And so on, and so forth.This book appears to have been hurriedly written and rushed to print, to be the first on its block to cover the Hero9. By the way, I encountered a problem in moving videos to my Mac, via a cable, and learned of a GoPro setting that eliminated that problem ... via a YouTube video. And that is a good lesson here: if you want to learn how to use your Hero9 you are much better off searching YouTube videos than buying this book.

Highly recommended for a GoPro beginner. I have a 40+ years experience as a (still) photographer, but am new to a GoPro. This is a great step-by-step guide to get started. I have watched the YouTube videos, too, but find this more helpful having it in my hands when I have a specific question.I had procrastinated setting up my new GoPro Hero 9, but had planned for 2 months to use it on my surf outing this weekend. Because of my experience, I thought I would just unbox the GoPro and mount it to my board and that there would be nothing more to it. Wrong! I found the GoPro complicated. This reference uncomplicated it.Again, highly recommended if you are new to a GoPro.

Since nothing from GoPro or aftermarket products comes with instructions, this book is a necessity for those not acquainted with the GoPro camera. The model 9 is my first GoPro and one does not make epic cinematography right out of the chute. Capturing video is as easy as choosing a video setting and pressing the shutter but there is a lot more to it in order to capture great footage. I slowly wend my way through the book and use the new knowledge form each new concept. The camera can do a ridiculous number of things and is no less capable than many DSLRs (plus or minus a host of interchangeable lenses).I'm about half way through the book and appreciate it more with each page. Chances are you will too.

With the purchase of a GO PRO 9 Hero, many of the features are intuitive once you get going. Just getting started, however, can be bit of a challenge as there are no instructions on the features of the camera or how to use them. This book is very useful in showing where features are, how to use them, and provides insights on how to get maximum performance from different settings. The book is organized with the right amount of text and illustrations to get you up to speed in a short amount of time. Understand the full capabilities of your Go PRO 9. Get this book.

I don’t understand what people are complaining about with this book, I recently purchased a GoPro Hero 9 and it’s my first Go Pro, there are so many presets and options that this camera has that a good instructional book is required to get all the benefits you can from this camera. And imo this book is it, it covers many if not all the features in an easy to follow format, I’d give this book 10 stars if I could, it’s an absolutely fantastic book.

Would give this book / guide more stars if I could. Love the results that I have gotten with the simple clear instructions and love to play around trying different things.

Ich habe von ihm auch schon das Buch für die GoPro Hero 7 damals gekauft und war sehr begeistert.Die 9er Ausgabe ist ebenfalls sehr informativ, hilft die neuen Funktionen besser zu verstehen und die Kamera ideal zu nutzen, egal bei welcher Action.Ich finde es schade, dass so gute Bücher nicht übersetzt werden. Ich denke es gäbe auch in Deutschland einen Mark für das Buch. Sehr schade, für all die User, die nicht so gut Englisch verstehen.Das Buch erklärt wirklich alle Details der Kamera gut verständlich und bis ins kleinste Detail. Ich habe es als ebook. Wenn ich unterwegs bin und mit der Kamera etwas mache, was ich nicht so oft mache (zb Schnorcheln), dann bin ich froh, wenn ich mal schnell die idealen Einstellungen und Tipps nachschauen kann.Wer also gut Englisch kann, dem kann ich das Buch absolut empfehlen. I am a photographer, but this is my first GoPro, so I needed a book that would get me familiar with all of the controls - so I know what I can and cannot do with this camera and where to find the controls or menus. This book does all that and more - unexpectedly printed in colour, too!And more than just info specific to the GoPro, it's got a very good section on general tips for shooting video, including how to think of the different types of clips you will want to acquire while out there so you won't be held back once you get to the editing stage because you didn't shoot something right (or at all).I didn't know what to expect with this book, but figured I would give it a try. It is everything I need - very impressed!

It's a wonderful practice manual for the GoPro Hero 9 Black holders !! Truly amazing.....I found myself lucky to get it through Amazon.
