The verdict was that not only was Mom's bruising not deep tissue damage but the recommended treatments were inappropriate and made her condition worse, including making her skin so dry & itchy that she clawed at the irritation wounding herself. She was hospitalized, again for an unrelated issue, and the hospital provided and recommended DuoDerm for these wounds. Due to their location on her buttocks is is difficult to keep any sort of dressing affixed and the thin skin tears and bleeds from the adhesive. The DuoDerm successfully covers the injuries and protects from moisture and sticking to her undergarments. We apply whenever her clothing is changed or she toilets. The improved healing is noticeable. It works great on open wounds. I put the gel on and cover the wound with the duoderm dressing and repeat the process every 4 days. Works great in completely healing the wound. **Q: What are the exact ingredients?** A: The insert says: DuoDrm Gel is a sterile gel composed of natural hydrocolloids (pectin, sodium carboxymethylcellulose) in a clear, viscous vehicle. **Q: Is this good for boil before and after they start to drain???** A: I can't address how it would be for a boil. Sorry. It did absolutely nothing for a wound on the bottom of my left foot. It formed in January (2015) and I still have it (July 2015). Somebody else might have better luck for something where their weight is not on it. I continue to use a prescription antibiotic ointment everyday and keep it covered. I've also been on two rounds of antibiotics earlier this year. If I were you, ask your doctor or your wound care enter if they approve this product for your situation. If you are diabetic (as I am), take extra care with your issue. If my review didn't say so, I did ask my doctor about this product before I actually used it. He told me that it is a known product used in wound care centers.
