Yes you can mix it, BUT you need to put the new ram in slots 1&2 OR 3&4 if you want to keep it running at 2666mhz. Easy to confirm by just going to your System Information app, then under "Hardware" is "Memory" it will show you which slot each stick is in AND its clock speed. If you alternate like many people say, it still works, but is slowed to 2133mhz.
