I purchased this rod for fishing canals outside my Florida vacation rental. It was perfect for catching small snook and redfish. I do not think the blanks, eyes and reel seat would hold up to a heavy salmon on a regular basis. I would hate to see your awesome salmon trip ruined because you put your faith in a cheap rod. Look at a St. Croix, Loomis or Shimano four-piece rods with good quality hardware and blanks. **Q: Case sizes: is the case the same size for a 9ft rod compared to the 10 MF rod? If they are different, what sizes are the cases?** A: I have the 9ft rod and the case size is about two feet long. It fits easily in a checked bag.
