I am also interested in knowing whether or not this tester puts a substantial load on the PSU, and I could not find this information on the website. **Q: Can you leave this tester connected to a PSU for long periods of time? Most of the cheaper testers advise against this, I'm guessing because they may over heat.** A: I've been able to answer my own question after receiving my this tester today. If you leave it connected it will power down the PSU and itself automatically after 10-20 seconds. **Q: Is there any advantage with this over the basic PSU testers?** A: I only used this and it is easy to connect and it shows if problems with HD, CD/DVD and PSU. Sorry, I can not comment on basic PSU in comparison to this unit **Q: Is there any volume control or alarm control over the sound? Can the alarm be turned off if you do not want an audible alarm?** A: I would assume that it uses a standard beeper, a round, squat plastic cylinder with a small hole in the top that projects the sound.
