Some need to start out using retinols every few days or every other day. Rarely more than once a day. Retinol is save to apply everywhere and will only cause temporary irritation if you accidentally get it in your eye. Other ingredients that are often added with it though are not always as safe to apply near eyes. Thinner skin may react more strongly and require a longer adjustment time with initially less frequent applications. It is actually highly recommended by dermatologists to apply retinol around the eyes because it's a common area to show damage or aging and there are not as many products safe for getting so close to your eyes.
