As it was developed to arquive files the need to be available all the time it spin at just 5400 rpm. Way too slow for the big systems available today. It,s ideal to put a 7200rpm disk or even a SSD to boot. In my computer I have a 256GB SSD disk to boot and the main programs and two 2TB 7200rpm drives to other files. So I don´t think the purple drive is good to use as a boot disk. **Q: Will this drive go into my q-see surveillance system model qt5682 which has a 1tb and i'm wanting to upgrade to a 2tb drive.** A: Yes, yes it will. I have a 3TB drive of this series in my qsee system (QC448) for over 1 1/2 years now running 24/7 and not one hickup so far.
