The bag is 7.5 ". I freeze boneless chicken breast and a good size meal fits in the bag. **Q: What thickness (.mil) are these bags?** A: I purchased quart size bags. It doesn't show anywhere on the box the thickness of the bag unless that is the (950 ml). **Q: what is the difference between these and the gamesaver quart bags?** A: There is no difference in the bags. It is just the packaging that makes them appear different. **Q: Is it better to order the bags or order the roll and make your own bags?** A: I've used it both ways with a newer and higher end model of the foodsaver vacuum machine. If I'm vacuuming something other than food I usually use the roll and make my own bag. For food I use the pre-made bags like these because as others have stated they do work better. If you are using the roll I recommend sealing the end that you're not vacuum packing several times a fraction of an inch away from the previous seal, similar to how the pre-cut bags are sealed.
