A: Unlocked devices are compatible with GSM carriers the kinds that Use SIM Cards for Service like AT&T and T-Mobile as well as with GSM SIM cards (select prepaid carriers). Unlocked Devices wont necessarily support CDMA Carriers the kinds that don't use sim cards for service like Sprint, Verizon, Boost or Virgin, it's always better to contact your service provider prior to purchasing to confirm their compatibility on the bands supported by this device.

**Q: Does this require a monthly fee/subscription? Can you use it even where wifi is not available?**
A: I used ATT pre-paid and T-Mobile postpaid SIM cards and both worked in my unlocked version.
