(I need to close a broken leather purse)** A: I actually just tried this the other day. It worked for about 2 min, lol. So no, it definitely won't work :-). They work awesome for other things though! **Q: is it difficult to peel off?** A: Peeling the backing off was exceptionally difficult. I ended up getting a razor / exacto knife and lightly cutting the backing, then sliding the razor under the backing the peel it off. I recommend peeling further down the strip than you need, cutting, and then reattaching the backing with some trailing off the end. To change out the zippers would have been cumbersome, given the shape and size of these cushions. Decided to try this instead and it is working like a charm. The back-side of the Velcro is quite sticky and adhered right away to the canvas-like material. Once attached to the material, the two sides stuck with the Velcro and you would never know that the zipper was broken - looks perfect and holding together.
