In short, the tip makes a nice, tight seal without having to move it around to get that perfect seal while the stem hisses and you lose a couple of psi in the process. The bleed valve was a splendid find for dropping a couple of psi when I overinflated a bit, and I love the way that the pressure remained registered on the gauge until the bleed valve is pressed, which made it quite easy to get an accurate reading when I was short on light and not in the mood to track down a light to otherwise facilitate. I ordered two originally, but after first use, passed one on to my dad, as I’d already determined that I’d be ordered an additional quantity of them shortly. Overall, great product, solidly built, a conscientious proprietor, and some excellently applied innovation. These certified mechanical tire pressure gauges will perform reliably at very low temperatures - and do not need batteries to work :-) **Q: Can you air down tires with this gauge?** A: Yes... easiest way is to overinflate a bit, and then bleed the excessive with the small push button valve.
