You can see in the photo of the instructions that the tabs are bent back. That's because you bend them back to lay flat after it arrives. I bent them back without a struggle. I took my time, and there was no issue. There are no pre-drilled pilot holes, so I recommend using a ruler to make sure you're centered, putting the pedestal on upside down, marking the holes with a pen, and using an electeic drill to make your pilot holes. I used the 5/64 bit. It's just easier that way. They give you the screws and a little screwdriver with your purchase. All worked fine. It's a beautiful, rustic pedestal.
