We used them. We like the wood chips better but these do work. **Q: can this product be used in a traeger electric smoker?** A: I used these pellets in a gas grill with poor results. I will not buy them again. I get much better results from Apple wood chips. As for using them in a smoker, I can't say, good luck. **Q: The description says "All Natural 100% Pacific Northwest Alder" is it alder or apple, the same for the cherry.** A: I ordered the Apple pellets. The pellets I received are a blend of Alder and Apple. Packaging states "Famous Washington State Applewood and a gentle touch of Alderwood are blended..." I believe they offer 100% Alder pellets as well. **Q: I used these to smoke a pork belly for bacon. It ended up smelling like smoke. Why?** A: I have found that it's easy to over smoke with pellets if you're not using a pellet smoker. When I use pellets instead of soaked chips I only put enough in for maybe a half hour of smoke and then finish with low and slow whether I'm using my gas grill or electric smoker. I have found that the pellets actually burn (with flame) where I never had that with chips.
