NOW is one of the cleaner ones. TAAU from Australia is by far the most pure and you can read further information on their website including independent test results. However, I contacted TAAU and they did not perform any testing for BMAA contamination, which is disappointing but there are no other Spirulina brands so far that can produce independent lab test results for BMAA testing. I contacted NOW and they stated the holes are put there to prevent static buildup in the product. NOW received complaints about people opening the canisters and product “jumping” out, causing loss of product. The 5 equidistant holes should be oriented in a pentagon shape.
