I don't do long-arm quilting alot, (maybe once a month) but whenever I do want to use it, I have to have customer service come (at an outrageous price) and spend hours fine-tuning the tension. Needless to say, I am trying to get rid of it as soon as I can. Huge waste of money. ### ⭐⭐ 2.0 out of 5 stars Still trying to set the tension on it *by D***Y on Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2012* I probably ordered my machine from the same California company as the original poster. My husband is an Engineer, and it still took the two of us better than 7 hours to set up this frame. The directions are horrible. I had sorted out all of the pieces and labeled them with post-it notes. I sorted all of the hardware into zip bags and wrote on each of them what part letter they were and what it was. Several times in the directions they would change what they call an item or use the wrong letter for it. Very frustrating. The directions were just xeroxed pages stapled together. I was ready to pull my hair out by the end. Probably spent about 90 minutes trying to get it level as well. With six legs on it, leveling was not easy.The frame assembly instructions were really bad, but the actual sewing instructions were even worse. Again, for a machine costing this much money it should have come with a nice book with TONS of color pictures as well as a DVD on how to load your quilt, thread it, adjust the tension, etc. The pictures for threading it are black/white and not close enough to see exactly how the thread should go through the multiple loops. It also pointed out a spot on the base of the machine where there is supposed to be a spot for oiling as well as a dip stick. My machine doesn't have it. I have spent countless hours scouring Youtube to find some sort of instructional videos and better instructions on using the machine. I have printed out each of the things I've found and put them together into a 3-ring binder. My regular sewing machine came with a great book and DVD instructional video. Apparently this manufacturer assumes that anyone purchasing it already knows how a longarm machine works. I've been quilting for years, but this was not quite what I was expecting.Unfortunately for me, there are no longarm dealers close to me so I'm just figuring it out by myself. Spent several hours adjusting the tension on it the other day and think I finally have it about 95% right. I am determined not to let my machine turn into a $6000 paperweight!If I ever bought another longarm machine, I would ask what sort of instructional materials are included with it. It's kind of like having driven a car for 40 years, and they assume that you should be able to jump into a piece of farm machinery and operate it without adequate instructions. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE IT! *by R***L on Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2015* I have this machine. I LOVE IT!! Yes it takes one if not two days to set it up and get it ready to go. That is why it doesn't cost $12k. But it is doable and worth it. You don't have to be a rocket science professor to do it..just normal assembly. As to the tension, the tension is easy once you understand it. For bobbin be sure after you bring the thread thru the tension finger that you wrap the thread threw the little wire coil just above the little flapper door on front. Your bobbin laying in hand gently raise the bobbin where it is standing up in your hand and the thread should feed out with out lifting the bobbin from your hand. It shouldn't be loose goosey but not so tight it lifts. For upper tension your tension knob should only be tightened enough that with fingernail you can feel the first ridge in the screw in the center of the knob.
