I have fair skin and have to watch out for my bald head and neck so I wanted a hat that had a wideish brim to protect me. This is well made with a wide enough brim to give you protection on the back of the neck. It may sit slightly deeper on the four head than I was expecting... but I have spent a week in hot sunny days and not burnt my neck.
