Is this normal or did I receive a defective product?** A: Hi Jennifer, This is normal for both the small and large containers. The lid fitting loose allows the herbs, or other produce, to breath. I thought the same thing but have never had them tip over in my fridge. They really work amazing to keep herbs that die, normally, in less than a week for a month or more! Great invention! **Q: Do the hetb savers go into yhe fridge or on the counter?** A: To keep herbs fresh, keep it in the fridge. Works really well. **Q: Is this glass or plastic?** A: It is a hard plastic container amd plastic lid. One of the best herb saver products I have ever used! **Q: Are the stems supposed to go into the water?** A: Honestly, I don't know. I presumed that some water was needed around the stems.
