Review: Why you must choose this radio - This is definitely not a fake or paid review. I love radios since the 70s and probably owned more than 50 units to date. I am a techie guy and started as a computer guru in the mid 80s and currently work as a technology professional. I bought 3 models (23D, 210N, 800D) in a span of less than a month. Why? First, I love the technology behind IP streaming both video and audio. I just didn't realize that there are a lot of broadcasts out there. If you are an advance computer user, you will not be limited with the Skytune library. You can sleuth around and add your favorite stations on these radios. Note that not all internet radio brands support this option. Second, these radios are cheap, that's why I was not really disappointed when my first order (23D) only worked for a day! I must have been given a problem unit as I am positive there is NO quality control when they are shipped out from the factory in Hongkong. Having explored my first unit's technology, I decided to buy another one (210N) hoping to have a better quality for the price, and a remote control which is very, very handy for these type of radios. It is a little bigger in size and the loudness of the speakers is just perfect for listening at night especially for news and talk shows. If you want a boom box, buy something else. I could have been satisfied until I tried the bluetooth which is able to connect but produce a garbled sound! I tried to connect my pc, phone and 2 tablets with the same results. I was totally frustrated with the quality control! and totally irritated at this point. Which brings me to my final decision. On final try I decided to buy the 800D. I did a lot of research not just on desertcart but on the whole web and was quite surprised that it has very few reviews (even in Youtube) and has no high star ratings. What I see are a lot of overpriced crap radios and definitely paid reviews (don't believe those top 10 ratings). This model has no equivalent on its class (DAB, FM, TF card audio player (mp3, FLAC, AAC) , headphone jack, line out, Bluetooth, Internet radio, stereo speakers, alarm, stanby clock, remote control, etc) all in one unit in a semi portable wooden box and an aluminum face plate. What radio can you find that?? The size of the blue display is just perfect. I am not sure if the unit's casing is real wood because the finish is plastered with a wood design synthetic. But the sound is great and the reproduction is solid and just loud enough for bedroom listening. It has equalizer and it has advance features to suit your sound preferences. I am lucky this time that everything seems to work! at $139, I have no complaints. Just a few recommendations to improve the unit: it has no fast forward or rewind during mp3 playback. This is very handy when listening to podcasts above 30 minutes. Also, audio tags (artist, album, etc.) should be displayed on the front panel and not just the filename. In bluetooth mode, these info are displayed on the panel so it should be an easy mod. The TF directory folders are not sorted alphabetically but on copy date. Also, add options to delete a file in the display directory options. The casing could be improved with real wood where you can see the wood grain finish - otherwise build another model colored all in black. Add a USB port at the back for those who have limited resource to edit TF content. Keep the price reasonable and this unit will definitely sell, just make sure there is ISO quality control before shipping out of the factory. I definitely recommend this model (800D) to prospective buyers!
Review: A GEM OF A RADIO FOR THE PRICE! - This is a true gem of a radio, and incredible for the price. It offers easy access to thousands of Internet radio stations — which means just about all the good FM and AM stations in the USA and rest of the world — as well as countless internet-only broadcasters. It has an FM radio that works remarkably well, has stereo speakers, a handsome brushed aluminum panel with wood enclosure, and a very informative and friendly 2.8 inch TFT display that is found on at least two other Ocean radios. PROs ▪ Easy setup, Took two minutes. ▪ Picks up wifi signals at “distant” locations around the house ▪ Skytune — the internet service that provides the stations— seems to be very good at holding the streams. It offers a fine selection of stations. There is no charge for using it. ▪ Very good stereo sound quality. While the bass is not deep and rich, it is quite good for a $100 radio. This is not a boombox, but is loud enough to satisfy most listeners. ▪ Functional front-panel controls, including three memories (many more memories are available via the included remote or from the dial control), and rotary volume and channel-selector knobs. ▪ An even more functional remote adds a few extra features like quick access to the EQ setup for customizing sound quality. ▪ A front-panel earphone/headphone jack which I find very useful — you don’t have to go fussing around the back or side of the unit, looking for the jack, ▪ The built-in FM radio is much better and more sensitive than FM radios that I have experienced with other internet radios. It has an included telescoping whip antenna. The tuner and antenna have surprised me on their sensitivity. ▪ You can program the internet channels from the radio itself, but it’s much easier and more fun is to go online and use the Skytune app which, while looking like something from the early 2000s, works efficiently. You can not only program channels, but rearrange them to you liking. (Make sure you have the radio on when you are programming.) ▪ The unit has line-out and auxiliary input jacks in the back ▪ It also has Bluetooth and microSD inputs so you can feed your personal music collection etc., to the radio. ▪ It has no batteries, but does not lose its memory of wifi connections (or station memories) from a power loss. CONs ▪ I guess I wish there were more bass to the music, but frankly, in view of all the other strong points, this is not really a complaint. The sound is still rich, clean and good. The WR-800D is the Big Daddy or Mommy of the smaller WR-210N, which is a very cool radio recently discontinued (I love mine) and replaced by the fancier and probably better WR-336N, which is $20 more expense than the 210 but $15 less expensive than the 800. They share the same basic guts, including the sweet 2.4 color TFT display but the 210 and 336 have a built-in battery for portable use. These radios don’t have FM tuners.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How are podcasts managed - if at all?**
A: The previous comment is not true. I have an internet radio I purchased from amazon (auna connect 150 currently out of stock) It has podcasts. They work very well you can search for your favorite podcast and save it to favorites. All internet radios that use the frontier nuvola chip using airable station aggregator have this feature. This radio does not have podcasts it is internet radio only. This radio uses Skytune as a station aggregator.

**Q: I purchased the model wr 800-d. i like the radio but i have major issues. the clock display freezes randomly. i have to unplug ac to reset. why?**
A: I have had issues also. When using the sleep timer, the radio occasionally needs to be turned off and on from the back power switch to get the radio to work. I returned the first one I had, and the replacement one has the same issues. I decided to keep the radio with the issues. Can’t explain why yours is having your issue.

**Q: Is the cabinet real wood, or just painted faux wood?**
A: IT looks like painted faux. It looks very nice on the counter top , And sounds very nice. Don'T LET THE none wood feath

**Q: can it be pluged into ac outlet?**
A: Yes, in fact that is the only way to power it. It has no internal battery. The plug end looks like a standard 120 volt 2-prong transformer that plugs in directly to a wall outlet.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good radio, but lacking in a couple of ways.
*by L***R on January 10, 2021*

This is a good radio. I'm not rating it a 5 because the product description says that it has a LAN input. It does not. But the WiFi connection is strong, so this not a big deal. The radio has very weak speakers. By itself it would be fine to listen to talk radio, but it is not that great for listening to music. Compared to a standard table top radio the sound is average, but compared to a better boombox or an average home stereo, it sounds anemic: No bass. If you have a decent home stereo, you can correct this deficiency with a cord with an 1/8" headphone plug on one end and a couple of RCA jacks on the other. Added to the amp and speakers I have, the sound is great. I never listen to commercial FM because the ads are very annoying, but internet radio is almost ad-free. That's cool. The way I'm using it, it's not a radio, but a receiver component, for internet radio. I know there are much more expensive internet radio receivers for stereo systems, but I can't imagine needing anything more than I have with this radio. It's just not 17" wide and black- so some might not care for the aesthetic - but I don't care. Set-up was pretty easy. The owner's manual was a little confusing for me, because I'm 60 and a technophobe, but I was able to add a couple of my favorite stations without too much trouble.
