Anything that smells toxic when burning, is toxic. If you see any unburnt black areas in the charcoal when your food hits the grille, you will be tainting the food with the soot of the accelerant that's in those briquettes. I strongly recommend using regular charcoal briquettes and starting them without lighter fluid, by using a charcoal chimney lit with a single fire starter made of paraffin-infused wood shavings. It's easy to do and it leaves you with non-toxic, clean-burning briquettes.
