From what I understand most games will more than likely not support those higher capabilities. To finish,if you want to have a monitor that shows the best color during game play I recommend a 4k monitor that has a 60hz refresh rate (they are cheaper), but if you want to buy one to play 1st person shooters(like myself) get a 1080p monitor with a higher refresh rate. **Q: My pc cant run over about 100-120 fps. Would it be bad to have a 144hz monitor if my pc cant take full advantage?** A: No, larger you issue has to deal with what your in game settings are. So if you're running a lot of your settings on high and ultra chances are your performance is going to tank because especially if you're running on older hardware for newer games. That said having a 144hz monitor doesn't mean that you wouldn't be able to take advantage of it. Your games will recognize that the display has this refresh rate available and will allow you to see them running at a variable rate. For example if you can only run a game at like 80fps but you're monitor can do up to 144fps all it means is that you'll be able to see smooth framerates up to 144fps even if you can't reach that frame rate.
