A: We do not recommend to place this bottle in the dishwasher, placing in dishwasher may temper with your insulation.

**Q: Can this be used without the inside straw (and without leaking)?**
A: We use ours without the inner-straw. It works just fine to drink from the spout (without the straw) and I haven't noticed any leaking.

I'm really enjoying using this bottle. The straw and handle are very functional. Keeps liquids cool for a long time. The only negative is that the bottle itself when empty is a bit heavy.
