I put mine on indoor furniture....but It dries beautifully and leaves a hard coating. The best wood for Hope is, of course, teak or a very hard wood. My wood was so dry I wound up putting on several coats....it kept soaking in and disappearing. The bench I covered was a very old Thai teak log of some kind. **Q: Can this be used on outdoor wicker furniture?** A: Hope's Tung Oil may be suitable for use on wicker furniture but we don't have first hand experience with it. I would recommend seeking additional information from a wicker furniture maker/expert and, if it makes sense, trying it on a small spot to see if you get the results you expect. **Q: Can this product be used to seal stone?** A: Most stone's porosity is exceedingly low, so you're looking at only a surface coat with tung oil. Hope this isn't a fireplace, hearth, or firepit. What might work better is a (shudder) tung oil finish, which contains a littlevtung oil and a bunch of polymers. Might give you better UV protection so you wouldn't have to re-emulsify more as often (yes tung oil finish re-emulsifies; I've experimented with it, but not on stone). Try the internet, filters "tung oil and stone", and see what you get. Remember that just about anything you use will be flammable. **Q: Do you have to dilute it? I'm planning on using it on teak. The salesperson said to dilute it because teak is so dense.** A: The salesman is correct. A 2:1 diluted solution (as recommended on the Hope label) will penetrate further into the wood, giving superior durability and a better looking result. On a dense wood like teak, you may even want to do the first coat at 4:1. Then continue with 2:1 coats until you are happy with the results, buffing with fine steel wool between each coat.More coats equals more work, but is worth doing for items like fine furniture. I put 5 diluted coats on an end table which looks great. But for the pepper mill in the kitchen I put on a single coat, undiluted.
