You probably already know how hard (difficult) they are to crack open. We had one a while ago that was spring loaded and very complicated and time consuming to use. This cracker works like a champ. Just put to nut in the "vice" and pull the handle. Couldn't be easier. The place where you put the nut is also adjustable so you can open large or small nuts. Although I would think it's overkill, you could open other nuts as well. However most other nuts don't require the amount of force that Mac's do. And, on top of working so well, it's not very expensive. Fewer moving parts, fewer problems. Now I'm enjoying Macadamia Nuts all the time where before I wouldn't because they were such a pain to open.
