## Description

In 1892, the lithographer Johann Adolf Rohrer (1850 – 1918) began with the production of special graphic supplements in the city of Leipzig. His son Johann Adolf Rohrer junior (1880-1953) – a skilled lithographer himself – continued the manufacture of these special products and founded with his partner Felix Arthur Klingner in 1907 the cooperation that is still known under the name Rohrer & Klingner Leipzig-Co. Rohrer & Klingner inks are made following traditional recipes and production methods using specially treated water, natural ingredients, and brilliant colourants. The well-balanced composition of Rohrer & Klingner inks make for an optimal, smooth ink flow and are fast drying.

Review: The colour is a very pleasant olive green that is discrete enough even for non-personal writings. The shading is excellent and so is the wetness. It works best on fountain pens with wider nibs, but it is dark enough for writing with fine nibs.
Review: This really de-gunks a pen after using Rohrer and Klingner SketchInk. I do not have good pen hygiene (leaving them inked in a drawer for weeks) and I had hard starts and was super frustrated, but this did what soap and water, pen flush, and even an ultrasonic cleaner couldn't. (I did run the parts through an ultrasonic cleaner after using this though because why not.)

**Q: Can this be used with a dip pen for calligraphy?**
A: Fountain pen ink is for fountain pens.  Calligraphy ink has a shellac property to it which makes it thicker.  You can try FP ink without harm to a dip pen, but never use calligraphy ink in a fountain pen.

**Q: The ink bottle came without a box and was not sealed. Is that normal?**
A: Yes, all R&K inks are unsealed. The standard writing inks have no box and the document inks have a simple cardboard box. It's the R&K philosophy to put the ink in the foreground and to avoid unnecessary packaging.

The colour is a very pleasant olive green that is discrete enough even for non-personal writings. The shading is excellent and so is the wetness. It works best on fountain pens with wider nibs, but it is dark enough for writing with fine nibs.

Das Schreiben mit einem Füller ist in meiner ansonsten digitalen Welt ein wenig anachronistisch, aber sehr wohltuend. Es zwingt mich dazu, langsamer und genauer zu werden. Meine Handschriften verfasse ich seit einigen Jahren praktisch nur mit einem Füller. Da es zunehmend schwieriger wird eine geeignete Kombination von Papier und Tinte zu finden, habe ich mich auf die Suche begeben und bin eher zufällig auf eine Tinte von Rohrer & Klingner gestoßen und wollte sie einfach mal testen: Königsblau. Wie sie es hinbekommen haben, weiß ich nicht, aber die Tinte von Rohrer & Klingner liefert ein außergewöhnlich lebhaftes, interessantes und gleichmäßiges Schriftbild, und stellt dabei gleichzeitig ein Optimum zwischen Oberflächenspannung, Viskosität und Benetzung dar. Die Tinte neigt auf schlechten Papieren viel weniger zum Ausbluten und Zerfasern, wenngleich viele Papiere, die in Druckern verwendet werden, für Füller heutzutage völlig ungeeignet sind, weil an der Papierleimung und einer Kalandrierung (Glättung) der Papiere gespart wird. Da kann auch diese Tinte nicht mehr viel retten. Bei guten Papieren liefert die Tinte durch die hervorragenden Benetzungseigenschaften selbst bei schneller Federführung einen durchgehenden Strich ohne Aussetzer. Die Oberflächenspannung und Viskosität ist so eingestellt, dass es im Schriftbild durch die Variation im Tintenauftrag des Füllers sowohl dunkle als auch helle Bereiche gibt, die Tinte aber trotzdem schnell genug trocknet, sodass man nichts verwischt oder verschmiert. Die Tinte funktioniert in einem Pelikan Souverän, einem Pelikan Epoch, einem Lamy Accent und einem alten Reform Füller Nr. 1745 gleichermaßen gut. Die Tinte ist uneingeschränkt empfehlenswert.
