## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this oil vw 502 rated**
A: I don’t know what your asking and I’m not gonna gts it, but, this is the best oil you will ever use. I use it in my 95 Bronco, 17 Explorer Platinum, and my 18 King Ranch. The bronco has 182K on it and uses almost a quart between 5K oil changes. Bottom end will be slick when I ever have to take it out. I run all royal purple fluids in trans and rears. I believe in this oil as much as I believe in Jesus!

**Q: whats has a better VI this or the 10w30? Or better numbers? htsc?**
A: Which VI test, Kinematic or Dynamic? So it’s not easy to give an easy answer. If you have an older car with lots of miles, then 10w30 can be the better choice over 5w30 in a Dynamic VI test; however, if your car isn’t really old then 5w30 is always the better choice. You can’t compare the VI because the 10w30 will always be lower, as the range between winter and operating temperature is less. I think Group is more important to you so you really should be looking for Group V oils, like Motul. They use ester, but the price obviously goes up, eh.

**Q: if anybody has used this on a 1992 firebird how is it?**
A: You should always mention your engine in your vehicle as well as the environment and type of use the vehicle gets when asking questions. What specifics are you seeking when you ask "How is it?".
It is really not a reasonable question and I think you would greatly benefit by participating in some motor oils discussions and learn about motor oils. Bobs The Oil Guy is the most popular I know of.
It is typically overpriced in my opinion. The closes thing I have to your vehicle is a 1998 Trans Am WS6 with 5.7L LS1 engine with various modifications and dyno tune. I don't use the current formulations of RP. I have had reason to mostly tear my engine down and it shows no signs of premature wear on anything which is really how you will truly know how it is doing. I spent over 4 years studying motor oils and filters and I use different ones in both my 4 wheeled vehicles and superbikes. Superbikes get group V Ester basestock oils from French and German manufacturers. Street cars including the TA get group III synthetics and synthetic filter media oil filters. I use the rebates that come out every few months so it saves me a lot of money and I change my oil at less frequent mileage than recommended. It would be fantastic if you were to learn as much as you needed to know about motor oils and filters and make your own informed decision. And remember that formulations for all motor oils are constantly changing (and they don't mention it) and new products come out so what you might select today may not be what you select next year.

**Q: Is this Group IV oil?**
A: NO is the answer. And there are only about 5% that are TRUE SYNTHETICS. This is a group III "synthetic" See Mobil vs Castrol and you will see why that law suit determined that in the US you can call oils that use CONVENTIONAL base stocks, Dino oil however you want to say it that has been highly refined through processed such as hydrocracking but would NOT be legal to sell with a label calling in synthetic in many places such as European countries like Germany. Royal Purple USED to be considered a P.A.O. oil but changed without notice to customers (like any oil company would) but of course did not alter the price. Remember there are also Group IV oils which are Ester based which is what I use in my motorcycles. Though todays group III oils can be some of the best choices for your average passenger vehicle. They are also cheaper with brands like Mobil 1 and Pennoil Platinum Ultra running rebates of at least $12 or more every few months. With the cost of a 5 quart jug on sale on Amazon or any day at "Wal ly World" going for $24 you end up paying $12 for 5 quarts which means you can save money and if you are on the fence change it more often. Remember an oil filter removes particulate matter from the oil NOT byproducts of the combustion process including things like acids. So you do want to change both the oil and filter. Use your manufacturers owners manual as your first maintenance schedule to follow and go from there. Oil itself does not "wear out' but the additives do deplete including things like viscosity modifiers and detergents and contain those build ups of contaminants so changing your oil and filter is important and is vehicle and use specific. Anyone that gives advice to others on what viscosity to use or what oil change intervals are appropriate without even knowing what the vehicle and use are should be ignored and shunned.
