Simple, easy to use (my wife doesn't like my digital tuning radios, as they often get stuck with a lock feature on or some other feature that impedes tuning.) Yet, this is DSP-based, and it locks right on to signals. The flashlight is just an added convenient bonus. With something this simple, there's so little to go wrong - and when the power is out or you're stuck in the blizzards we get here in the higher elevations (7500ft +) in Colorado, you want something that just works. This radio just works, and I anticipate it will for the next 20 years. At the price, it can't be beat. Perfect for the job. It's not high-fidelity, but that's not the idea. A basic, good radio - with reception LIGHT YEARS better than the cheap chinese cracker jack toy types. I wouldn't buy this, mine quit working after about 2 months and the company wouldn't stand behind their product. Just a waste of money. **Q: Those lt have a good bass** A: It has a single monaural speaker and it's of a decent size, so it's a lot less tinny than a smaller radio would have, but there is no substitute for size if you want really good bass. **Q: What adapter goes with this so I can plug it in?** A: Mine came with an adapter. Kaito AD500 **Q: Can I use the AC adapter with the 3 size batteries installed?** A: I only use it on AM with batteries I have a AC adapter if I use the AC adapter ( the one I have it is unusable the RF noise makes it unusable, It does not cause a problem on other bands I have tried). I would not expect a problem with both batteries and a problem.
