I like this cookbook, it not only teaches you how to get the flavor of bacon using different foods but has good recipes to use the 'bacon' you create I have had this book for several months now and it has become one of my favorites. I never enjoyed tempeh before but I absolutely love the bacon tempeh and have used in in many recipes. The coconut bacon is delicious too! The bacon onion tart is so good, I had this before I went vegan and never expected to eat it again so I was very happy to find this recipe. All the recipes I have tried have worked out perfectly and I am no pro chef so I appreciate the work that went into testing before publication.

Vegan bacon? That wonderful concept alone is probably responsible for the more positive reviews on here. There is no need to factory-farm pigs when you can get the same, if not better flavor from identically seasoned oyster mushrooms.There are some good recipes in this book, like the tofu bacon. There are also some downright lazy recipes. For example, the "pigs in a blanket" recipe tells you to put store-bought vegan hotdogs in store-bought Pillsbury dough. That is literally the recipe.Why would anyone buy a cookbook on making bacon, only to be told NOT to make bacon, and instead just buy and heat up the processed crap from the frozen aisle like everybody else? I am at a loss as to how that even qualifies as a recipe, let alone why the publishers decided to print it.I put this book in the "borrow, don't buy" category. To those on the hunt: There's no shortage of vegan bacon recipes online.
