I can sear a roast in it then switch to slow cook and make pot roast. I sear veggies in it then switch over to slow cook and make amazing soups. I have made mouth watering ribs, pea soup on pressure cook setting, a whole chicken, stuffing, lasagna, and much more. It stays on my counter and I use it every week. I should have bought two and just stored one away as a gift because my friends and my boss want one after they saw mine!
