So your Acrylic paint and any Acrylic Mediums you are using needs to be fully dried before you go in with the sticks. Once your Acrylic (water based) products have fully dried, feel free to use these sticks, any oil-based paint and any oil paint medium interchangeably. Looks the same to me with slight variations in the colors** A: Shiva only makes this one 12 piece set in student sticks. All other sticks/color options are their professional sticks. Other than colors, the only difference is the student paintstiks contain a lower pigment content than the professional sticks. I wouldn't let that scare you off, though, because visually these colors are very bright, completely opaque and they are smooth with excellent coverage and easy to work with.
