Thanks in advance!** A: ONLY the exterior housing is metal, the really critical functional (read: moving) parts that divert water internally are PLASTIC. Our unit failed after three years of moderate usage. Replaced with the MODONA solid brass unit. **Q: does this diverter reduce any water flow to the main shower head?** A: All diverters designed for showers are not full-flow valves, that I have seen. However most shower accessories and the actual shower heads already reduce flow so often not an issue for modern plumbing. I had already removed all the reducers at the shower head, so this ended up lowering my pressure a decent amount. Replacing with a big ugly high pressure full-flow ball valve. **Q: country of origin?** A: A photo posted by a reviewer shows a "Made in Taiwan" label on it. They almost always have inexpensive products made overseas. **Q: Just to confirm, which one is outlet and inlets? Male inlet and two outlets (one male and one female)? Naturally I have a shower head on one end of the diverter, and a handheld shower head with 6 foot hose on the other output. You can switch between either the shower head, or the handheld shower head. As with other diverters, you can also send 50% to the shower head, and 50% to the handheld shower head, or any other percent division. This water diverter comes with a thick rubber washer on the water source end of the diverter. This thick rubber washer does not leak, unlike my other Home Depot model. It is overall well designed, and I am 100% happy with it's functionality and finish. The diverter lever is smooth and effortless to turn 90 degrees. All threads are well formed, and the threaded pipe lips are all smooth, not sharp, which helps to prevent small water leaks. I currently have attached the shower head and handheld shower head hose to these threads, without using "Teflon tape", and there does not seem to be any leaks. The water diverter input side with the thick rubber washer is connected without any Teflon Tape, and it does not leak either.
