A small household plate is needed to help collect water - these do not come with any water collection but the pots do have a drainage hole. They also come with a little filter to help keep soil from draining into your plate. Pay attention to the dimesions of the pots to help ensure that your plants will have enough space. Love these!

A: Depends on the soil mixture.  I'd say 1 1/2 quart is a good estimate.

A: I ordered white and got 90% brown

A: Not black. Brown It’s dark. My guess is it varies from pot to pot.
