I just measure my apartment floor to ceiling and it is a shade less than 8 feet.** A: It's around 7 feet. You can adjust the size. But it is roughly less than 7 feet at the apex. (Your ceilings are 8 feet standard). And, I have my lamp "hovering" between two chairs and -I will guess it is roughly 20-24 inches in. The base is a marble like slab and VERY heavy, and so the lamp stays in place. It is an excellent reading light. Buy the recommended chromium faced light bulb for the filtered light!
