Two young lovers, residents of the town, wanted to prepare a sweet to welcome him. Improvising with what they had in the larder, egg whites, sugar and apricot cernels they made cookies then wrapped them in crepe paper and offered them to him. He was so overjoyed with the delicious Amaretti, which in Italian means a little bitter, the Cardinal gave them a blessing for a long and prosperous marriage. Three hundred years later Amaretto is still produced throughout Italy with the recipes kept secret. Romantically nestled in tissue paper are two cookies symbolizing the young lovers and their legacy.The Amaretti del San Carlon is the embodiment of artisan excellence in terms of quality and Italian taste.Pasticceria Aliverti is an artisan cake and pastry shop founded in 1955 in Arona, a charming town on the beautiful shores of Lago Maggiore (the second largest lake in Italy) in the province of Novara in the Piedmont region of Italy. Aliverti's master pastry chef uses carefelly selected ingredients for traditional and innovative recipes that lend their cakes and cookies their signature flavor.
