I'm trying to decide how wide a board i would need to mount it on....** A: The boot scrubber is 6" x 9". I have mine mounted in the middle of a 2 x 10 pressure treated board which is 24" long. Then you can stand on the board and clean you left shoe, then stand on the other end and clean your right boot. Works great. **Q: How well does this work on fresh dog poo?** A: Never had to use it that way. However sure it would work on dog poo fresh or otherwise. HOWEVER some fresh dog poo is sticky and you would do far better washing the bottom of boots/shoes off because if you use this brush YOU will need to wash it off too to prevent contaminating your next set of shoes or next person to use it. Wouldn't that put you in the dog house if your wife/hubby was next in line thinking they were scraping off their soil bits and instead came away with POO on the SHOE and tracked right into the house. Anyway doggie poo bags are the answer to not walking in poo in the first place and all home owners with kids 8 to 20 need to train kids to use the poo scoopers and or poo bags and avoid a yard full of possiblilties. Just my opinion...and yes when visitors bring their pets which we are fine with they get handed a pack of poo bags and are expected to oblige. What they do at home is no concern of ours but at our home it matters. As kids we picked up our yards poo when told too on regular basis. If you have a dog even some cats it's one of the responsiblities that goes along with feeding and brushing and loving them and your neighbors and visitors. Anyway it would clean pet poo to some extent just wouldn't want to mess with having to clean it and still wash off my the creases and cravisis in my shoes too. Plus if you tie this down to a board like we have it's that much more difficult to perhaps hose off depending where you have it nailed down too. I like to clean my brooms used outside and inside by the way on the sides of this so again would not want poo residue on my brooms. Just thinking outside the BOX here. **Q: what are the bristles made of?** A: I believe they are made of stiff nylon or some other synthetic material. It holds up better than natural bristles. I like this product very much. **Q: Can this work on cement porch without mounting?** A: No. It needs to be firmly mounted directly to your porch. However the task has been made a lot easier thanks to the Jobsite Boot Scrubber.
