It was purchased from money given to me by a friend for my new house so I could think of her each time I looked at it. I made my "nectar" and hung it on my front porch. Nothing. We had taken down the old one and put it on the back porch, was ugly but they were drawn to it. So after reading up on making the nectar, realized it needed to be red. So I put in one drop of red food coloring as suggested and they have not stopped drinking from it since. In fact I have one large hummingbird who thinks it is totally his and keeps fighting the smaller ones away!
