All I can say is that these are superior in every way to the CORE boards, they cost less, and for less cost, you also get a third small board that's nice for cheese, etc. The key is the three-ply construction, with the center ply grain running crosswise while the two surface plies have the grain running lengthwise. This should address the cracking issue in the CORE boards, as the two plies of the CORE boards both ran lengthwise - and no surprise, the CORE boards warped across their width, and a lengthwise crack developed. These three ply boards address both of these issues.The photos do not do justice to the quality and workmanship of these "Premium Bamboo" boards. In the photos, there is not much of a radius shown at the edges of the hand grip cut outs, and the circular grip cutout in the small board is almost square edge and even shows a chip - in fact I almost didn't buy them because the finish looked sketchy in the photos.However, the actual boards I received are beautiful, the handhole and finger hole cut outs are generously radiused, and each board is very smooth and nice to handle. They should have used mine for the photos! :-)We have a GE Monogram professional range top with a center griddle, and it comes with a beautiful 3/4" thick bamboo cutting board, custom-sized to use over the griddle. To replace that OEM cutting board through GE costs $126, so naturally we wanted to protect it with a more cost-effective "sacrificial" lightweight cutting board, and that was the main reason for this purchase - the other two boards are gravy for us. The large cutting board from this Premium Lifestyle set is a perfect fit over the GE Monogram board, matches it perfectly, and looks to be of the same top quality as the $126 OEM board, but thinner for easier handling. They seem well made and durable. They're obviously not super thick, so if that's what you're wanting I recommend checking for a different product (chopping block maybe?).I do a lot of home cooking so I've put these through the ringer in the few weeks I've had them. The large is a good size for most meals I cook (1-4 people), the medium is perfect for when I am just making dinner for myself, and the small is about the same.
