**Q: can this be used on plastic?...thinking fishing lures**
A: No, above the water line only.

**Q: Can I use this product to finish a hiking stick or will it be toxic to my bare hand after holding on to it for a long time?**
A: Should do fine. Its designed for wooden boats in the oecean and they sugest you do the boat hand rails with it so i would assume that would work for a walking stick

**Q: Would this be good for a piece of wood with a handpainted design for outdoor use? Will the colors stay intact? It is painted with exterior paint.**
A: It's a very durable weather resistant varnish. It has UV blockers to prevent fading. The issue would be cleaning the piece prior to varnishing so that the varnish  will adhere.

**Q: Can this product be sprayed with an airless?**
A: I just bought a Fuji Q4 hvlp sprayer to apply Epifanes Clear Varnish to a complex outdoor bench (Lutyens) and can report that it works just fine. I'm using the Epifanes spray thinner, but have been reminded by Doug Theobalds at Epifanes that Naptha works just fine. It actually says this on the can, but I guess I don't read directions well enough :)
The coats go on thinner, so you will need more coats, but this is made up for by the speed of application. I just sprayed 7 bench slats at once in around 10min. It took longer to clean the sprayer. This makes me so happy. I rolled and tipped this bench first and made a mess. The sags and runs took forever to sand off. No runs with the sprayer.
Naptha, btw, evaporates faster than mineral spirits. This is needed when you spray. Again, Doug Theobalds at Epifanes suggests thinning no more than 15% with the sprayer. The Q4 sprayer had no issues with the stock 1.3mm tip.
