IKEA BILLY bookcase, White

Great product. Unfortunately was sent the wrong color! Because of living in Alaska and wanting to avoid unnecessary shipping, kept item for discount. Still wish could have received right product. Took shipping company quite long to reply to complaint. Love the product though!!!

I bought this Ikea bookcase to have some shelves in my newly refinished kitchen. It replaces some shelves I had screwed to the walls and with the new walls I didn’t want to put holes in them right away for shelving. I am very glad I bought this Ikea unit. I have an identical one in my living room that has worked very well for books for five years. I was able to purchase that one directly from an Ikea store for under $100 because I was driving home from a vacation and passed the store. However that store I over 100 miles from home making it impractical to drive for another one.When I consider what I will have to pay for something, I consider the cost AND the value. Buying this unit delivered to my door for $200 was a perfect value. I knew it would come with all of the parts, clear instructions, and could assembled by myself with no help. I was however very concerned with the shipping wondering if it would arrive damaged because the box was big and very heavy. I soon saw that Fast Home Goods, the vendor had that all figured out. I arrived home from work one day and there it was right at my front door. But I became worried because the box was a little damaged. What I didn’t realize was that Fast Home Goods wrapped it in about four additional boxes to protect it. There was no damage to the unit. This extra boxing is likely why the additional price from Ikea. The $50 for shipping was because it was very heavy, probably 200 pounds! To have this great unit delivered to my door, hundreds of miles from the closest store was a GREAT value.It was very easy to assemble and is very sturdy. It will serve my purpose very well. If I need another piece of Ikea furniture, I will not hesitate buying it from Fast Home Good through Amazon.Also, I want to say that I have no connection with either Amazon or Fast Home Goods which are both the very best to work with.

I love IKEA hacks and Billy bookcases are the best. I had purchased a few when I was down in Texas then drove them up North where I live. Unfortunately I measured wrong and was one short for the “built in” bookcase I was putting in my living room. I couldn’t get what I needed delivered by Ikea so I ordered from Amazon. First the product was more expensive than IKEA which would have been fine except the bookshelf arrived damaged with chips, a crack, and dark spots. Thankfully I was able to hide all of the damage because I was painting the shelves. Still, expected better.

Tried to attach photos but Amazon didn't recognize my gallery. This product came cracked on both long sides and EVERY corner was broken or chipped, and scratched like someone took a box blade to it. It fit the space perfectly, because I measured before ordering, but for the price I paid I expected way better quality. I was just too aggravated with it to try and bother with a replacement. 3 stars because it still functions as a shelving unit.

This $40 item from IKEA cost about $170 through Amazon, and it arrived broken. So far neither the distributor nor Amazon will admit fault…both say it is the other's responsibility. It's a great bookshelf for a narrow space. Too bad I do not live near an IKEA facility to pick it up in person.

I liked the bookcase dimensions they work in a small room and it holds the books I have with no problem. It had a 2” piece broken off the bottom in the box but easily glued back on.

I love the size but when it came several of the shelves had damaged and smashed corners as did the top side piece. Also, I had to pay $165 as opposed to the $39 that IKEA sells the same thing for. I wouldn't spend the money had I known it would be so damaged. I kept it for a closet but it is too wrecked to be in an area where it will be seen. Disappointed.

Just what I needed for extra closet storage. I needed a piece small in width, but taller in size for more storage. Bookcase is exactly as shown in photo. I went online to Ikea (it is only $44 there - but they will charge you $169 in shipping! - no thank you. I bought from Amazon instead.) I built the bookcase on my own in an hour (mindful to do it right so I took my time, maybe someone a bit handier could do it faster). It took a good 10 minutes struggling to get it out of the packaging box! There were no known shipping issues that I could find. It does weigh 47 lbs., so you will need help carrying to a location for set up. There were 2 minor imperfections which are hardly noticeable, and there was a missing screw to anchor the piece to the wall. Fortunately I had and extra screw, so no issue. I would purchase again, looks very clean and solid once constructed. There are 4 adjustable shelves that are very stable once in place. Serves it purposes and stores a lot of my clothes.
