Boiled it and it turned the water red and the dispenser pink.** A: The red dye did come through when I used it the first time. I ended up tilting the red cap at an angle to avoid the butter coming in direct contact with the cap. I have had no problems with it turning the butter red after that. Occasionally, the threads of the handle have shown some red. **Q: How large is the tube? Can I use it with the short, fat, quarters sold at Costco, 1.5"x1.5"x3.25" ?** A: It barely fits normal sticks. So if they are 1.5 x 1.5 then sure. However I wouldn't keep it in the fridge unless you want to run the risk of breaking the mill when using it.
