I don't have the dimensions for this device handy but your machine will move forward from the back wall about 6" to accommodate the Mini Rester. I have it installed with the water supply hoses coming in the bottom of the device. **Q: Will this device stop banging on the entire water system? We have banging not just on the washing machine but every toilet and sink..** A: Rather than installing an arrester on every appliance or faucet my plumber told me about a whole-house water arrester. It would probably need to be installed by a professional unless you're good at cutting and soldering pipes. The arrester would be installed where your water supply enters the house. For now the only time my pipes get hammered is the washer so I used two of these Sioux Chief mini rester to solve my problem. Another problem could be water pressure. If your water pressure is over 60psi that can cause the hammer effect, too. I had a house where the pressure was 90psi and installed a water pressure reduction valve at the curb stop. Solved my hammer problem with that.
