Check out the video for this brand name to see how to fit. The biggest mistake I see some people making with this collar is they have it too loose and to far down on the neck. This is a collar that should never be worn unless the handler is directly there with the dog. They way you place it on and off is to pinch a link and slide the prongs out of the next link. **Q: how do you put it on and take it off?** A: I have been putting it on and off over their head which is incorrect as that means it’s too large. You are supposed to just squeeze one of the links and slide on and off (as you do to add/remove links). I have a hand issue so cannot and therefore bought one with a buckle which I love. Also from Sprenger in stainless black. Sold my other ones to a friend who loved but didn’t have my hand problem **Q: Does the black wear down after a while?** A: Yes. After a few years of daily use, the black color gets worn to a med-dark gray, not quite chrome, bit definitely no longer black, especially in the high-rub areas. **Q: Do you have the one with the quick release buckle in black 2.25? Do you also stock the nylon cover? Could you send me a link?** A: I have a dog who managed to open the quick release buckle a couple of times. However, after 5 weeks, the metal started splintering on the d ring to a very sharp point and I almost cut my finger. We were just passed our 30 day return policy so I contacted HS directly. They permitted the return through Amazon and Amazon approved with the exception of a restocking fee. We decided to buy the black stainless steel HS which we originally wanted anyhow. For our gray dog, it doesn't stand out as much, looks a lot cleaner, and coordinates with our stacked collars (prong, ecollar when in use, & herm sprenger clicklock DogLine biothane collar). She wore this black HS prong for 3 weeks at Board and train in addition to 1.5 weeks at home. So far, no issues at all. We have no issue with dexterity so placing on and removing is easy for us. We removed one prong link for a better fit.
