This serves to supress static electricity and also causes dust to adhere to the brush so that you aren't just pushing it around the record. The liquid should be something that evaporates fairly quickly (the record should be dry when you play it) and leaves behind no impurities. Always rotate the record under the brush while holding the brush stationary, not vice versa. Use a minimal amount of downward force to avoid putting stress on the platter mounts, motor and/or belt and to avoid forcing debris down into the grooves. After the brush has caught all the dust on the surface, slide the brush off the record away from the spindle while keeping it in contact with the record. To clean the brush simply rotate the bristles back and forth under the handle. That will free the dust from the fibers. **Q: How much fluid do you use?** A: I use one or two sprays, but if the record isn't really dirty I don't use the fluid. **Q: I had a record that played just fine until recently it started to skip in the middle of the song with this product help that skipping** A: A few things could be happening with your record causing it to skip. You could have a collapsed groove. The arm may not produce enough pressure to the needle for it it pass over the affected area without skipping, or you may have some foreign object (dust) in the groove. This brush/cleaner kit is intended to help remove dust and debris from the grooves. If this is your problem, then yes this product should help with the skipping. You could also try some compressed air or a soft cloth and cleaner to the area in question. These types of brushes should be used as preventive maintenance for your records before/after each play but they will not fix damaged grooves. Hope this helps. **Q: This or a vacuum record cleaning machine?** A: I have never used a record cleaning machine so I can't give you an answer as to which I would recommend. I can say that after quite a bit of use I am a little disappointed with carbon fiber record brush due to the bristles clumping together after repeatedly getting wet from the spray cleaner. Once dry, the bristles somewhat return to original shape, but not as good as when it was new. But it does work effectively. Word of advise, if you have 15 or so or more albums that you intend to clean, the spray cleaner won't last very long. Order more cleaner. Or perhaps I sprayed too much per record. I ordered more spray bottles (2 fluid oz each) and it was shipped from Japan. I ordered Dec. 19, 2017, it shipped from Japan Dec. 20, and it arrived Dec 27 2017.
