It has good hold, doesn't have a "wet look" (provided you don't use too much -- did that once or twice!), and it does give the appearance of thicker hair. It was a pleasure to use, but because it was my first try at "styling fiber" or "molding wax" (I'd used gel when I was a teenager, paste and blowdry in more recent years), I decided to try another brand as well. I went with "Hair Dough Mens Hair Style Smooth Fiber Cream". After having used both, I felt that the Viking had a moderately better hold, but that there was little enough difference that I was going to let my barber and hairdresser decide. Both said that the lanolin and alcohol in the Viking was likely to cause my hair to dry out over time, and as these weren't present in the Hair Dough, they'd suggest I go with the Hair Dough. So that's what I've done.
