This ball takes a licking & keeps on ticking! Seriously, they tug with this thing, we throw it in the outdoor in-ground pool & the labs fetch it. This is a wonderful dog toy & has withstood the test of time playing with it everyday for a year. I tried the Gripper ball 8" dog toy The Gripper Ball 8 Inch which they loved, but went thru 2 of those balls in a week. This product is the best! :) This ball, is made of the same material that the original Jolly Balls were in 2001. That is to say thats a good thing. Its a softer, more rubbery material that dogs (& horses) seem to like to bite, pick up in their mouths. However, it is as durable as the original material Jolly Balls, & doesn't collapse with very hard play. The new material Jolly Balls are stiffer, slicker hard plastic that have no give in their mouths, so that none of my dogs will play with them & its no where near as durable as this material. I only wish this came with a tug handle (if anyone knows where to get one in this material, I'm all ears).
