It didn't bother me, but a bike officionato (i.e., snob) would probably complain. Would have to try it to know if it works for you, personally. **Q: How good are these for the people who wear barefoot shoes?** A: Yes! They have all the benefits of barefoot shoes including a wide toe box. Can be worn with or without socks. These are what I buy instead of the expensive brand barefoot shoes. Would they protect you from sea orchirds?** A: They are thin so I don't know if they will protect you are not in you case. al I can say the are a whole lot better then nothing. My feet are tender from wearing boots all the time. But I can walk down a trail over rocks and roots without them hurting my feel, I can feel that they are there though. Wore them on sharp rocks (shale ledges) fishing. Grip was good, and my feet didn't get burnt from the hot rocks. **Q: Are there water socks you can wear with these? I bought an 11.5 as I suspected I might need a bit of extra space and I was correct. The opening was a bit snug even after letting out the cord some. Once I got them on I wore them around for a few hours. They feel great and are comfy. My one worry is when I do get them into water, they won't drain well as there are no screened drain holes in the sole of these shoes. The top of the shoes are thin and very breathable. I feel they would be sufficient in letting water pass through. I can't speak to their durability as I have only had them a week so far. I will post an update after additional uses.So far the down sides to these are lack of drain holes and the insole is not glued to the sole so it comes out every time I pull them off.Otherwise I am very happy with these.
