Do you think she would still be able to put this together?** A: Being the proprietor of lady parts myself, I did not struggle extraordinarily with the assembly. I think your wife will do just fine. **Q: How long will it take to assemble this ship?** A: Four hours? Total? My foot. I am an experienced model builder and there is no way anyone could pop out, prepare, wire, assemble over 350 pieces that fast. I've got 15 hours into it and I'm about half way. And some of the pieces do NOT fit exactly, especially if the tabs are bent, but generally overall the directions are accurate. Definitely consider gluing the main members to the hull; after all, why would you want to disassemble it? Some things you will need that I have found (maybe not you) are, elmer's glue, scotch tape to hold some of the pieces in place while the glue dries, an exacto knife to remove excess glue before it dries and to expand the slots that are often exactly too small. They don't tell you this on the box. The bottom hull is definitely the hardest part. It is unconscionable that the base would be made WITHOUT glue. I have glue certain points and the ship is steady like a rock and you don't have to worry about the pieces falling out after "assembly". Besides, people often glue their jigsaw puzzles after they complete them, so it would go doubly so for this model. Not EVERY piece mind you, but at the main stress points, especially when they are creased to be folded. It is a very fun and challenging product, and I would add not to gift it to anyone under 14 unless they have the patience of a saint. Four hour assembly? I'd have to see it to believe it. Unless there are like four or five people working together on it. But my rules with puzzles or models are these: 1) There is no deadline; 2) there is no reward for speed, 3) never lose your temper, and 4), No matter what, have fun! If you have little to no patience and are quick to give up, this or any other technical puzzle would be absolutely not recommended. **Q: Can a novice assemble it?** A: These metal ships are incredibly beautiful but the parts are very very small because they’re so cheap I would suggest getting like a $10 metal kit and see if you can’t fill the tabs and if it works for you I got very frustrated with Metal so I’m using the U gears with cars and boats and the cubic fun 3-D shapes are a blast and I had never assembled one and it’s something the whole family can pitch in on **Q: I have never done a model like this before. Curved surfaces are fuzzier to get fit but once you get the hang of how the material fits together, the bigger projects are just the same moves repeated more time. Never be afraid to use a little school or roll on glue if a part feels loose. Fun to put together, hard to make a show piece. *by T***E on October 1, 2020* First off, I cut my index finger and had to wait for it to heal before I finished it half way through. It takes two hands. Its not really easy, and the end product will look better if you put more into it than the instructions say. Being said, seal up cracks that LEDs will shine through, and its not a real 3D model, but a 2D as the pieces only have two sides, not 360 degrees.. Basically, you need to know that its like a jigsaw puzzle with images on the top an bottom. The pieces seat together much like a jigsaw, but it had gaps. So the LED will shine through those gaps unless you take measures to plug the seams. Every piece has only two sides. The ropes and the cannons arent round, and there will be a visible sandwich effect on each piece. The end result is pretty good looking. Im not saying this model is crap, but its not a high quality detailed model, but it isnt horrible either. Just know what you are buying. For the money, I had fun and frustration putting it together. I said earlier it not really easy. I say that because there are some parts you need to pay attention to while putting it together. Any segment that requires to to place two tabs in one slot is easily damaged, requiring some glue to hold them together. The LED lights on the rear cabin under and the eaves are a real pain. Some of the pieces will loosen during connection, and will require some glue. The seams in the hull where the LEDs shine will probably require a additional seal such as electrical tape to keep the seams from leaking light. At the end, it looks pretty bad ass in shadow and at a distance in full light. Its large at about 24in X 24in x 8in. Its has its challenging moments to put together. It isnt a high end detail model, but you arent going to need a laundry list of extras to put it together.
