It definitely met my latter criterion, but not my former. My two main gripes are that the "bits" in the exfoliant aren't abrasive enough to make me feel like I am getting enough exfoliation when I use it, and also that it's very oily. The label says it can be used as a mask, wherein you put a whole lot of it on your face and then sit there with it on for 10 minutes. I've done this and it's very nice. Gives a kind of tingly feeling. However, if I wanted a mask I would have bought one. I also don't really like the smell very much.
